New S-KLASS COUPE

DESIGN ICON.

Sensual clarity as an expression of modern luxury – this was the focus for the designers, and is the design philosophy of Mercedes-Benz. The aim is to create clear contours and smooth surfaces that stage high tech while exuding emotional appeal. That is reflected in the core design values of tradition, emotion and progressivism. Mercedes-Benz creates a bridge between modernity and the avant-garde, between tradition and progressivism. And yet a Mercedes-Benz is always recognisable as a Mercedes-Benz. Because in addition to incorporating new stylistic developments, and in the interests of keeping tradition alive, the designers draw from a gene-pool of styling features typical of the brand. “At the centre of our work is sensual clarity as an expression of modern luxury, because this is precisely what gets to the heart of our brand philosophy – the bipolarity of intelligence and emotion", says Wagener, Vice President Design at Daimler AG.

FLOWING PROFILE OF
PERFECT PROPORTIONS.

The flowing profile of the Concept S-Class Coupé embodies sensual clarity in a modern way. It is characterised by typical rear-wheel drive proportions, which are emphasised by the Mercedes-typical signature, the dropping line. The long bonnet with distinctive lines and powerdomes, the cowering greenhouse with high beltline, the accentuated wheel arches as well as the 21-inch wheels and the visually broad rear substantiate the claim of the Concept S-Class Coupé as a masterpiece of automotive refinement. At the centre of the vehicle front is the three-dimensional and further evolved diamond radiator grille, whose structure is defined in this case by rectangular, dark chrome-plated elements.

INSPIRING APPEARANCE.

The full-LED headlamps with their iconic eyebrows as daytime driving lamps lend it an extremely self-assured and distinctive gaze. On the Concept S-Class Coupé the eyebrows have been further advanced with a semicircular counter-swish. The diamond-look of the headlamps and the tail lamps underline the luxurious appointments of the show car. The side profile is defined by the dome-shaped stretched roof line and the frameless doors. An elegant, three-dimensional chrome frame surrounds the glass areas that are uninterrupted by B-pillars. This underscores the Mercedes-typical coupé look. In designing the pillared exterior mirrors the designers took opportunity of the liberties offered by a concept car and made them especially slim, giving them an elegant appearance.

DYNAMIC FLOW OF LINES.

Sculpted elegance and simplicity also characterises the interior. The instrument panel seamlessly transitions into the doors in a wrap-around design. The wavelike motion continues in the door panels. The ventilation nozzles have a futuristic and highly detailed design. Being made of a mix of brushed and polished white aluminium with a ceramics-like appearance they are designed to add contrasts. The aluminium control elements have a functional and clean design and provide an exciting contrast to the organic and avant-garde shapes that surround them. On top of the free-form surface are the 30.7-cm (12.3-inch) screens familiar from the new S-Class. As high-tech elements they offer an exciting contrast to the sensual landscape of the instrument panel. In the Concept S-ClassCoupé the fully glazed colour displays are even slimmer and seem to float even more freely. The door panels of the Concept S-Class Coupé are made from aluminium. Delicate topographic lines create an interesting light pattern with tiny sparkling highlights.

LTIMATE EXCLUSIVITY.

The central command unit on the centre console looks like a shiny jewel. Its extremely high-quality "black diamond" surface creates depth of field. The seats have a highly dynamic and natural "flow of lines" and continue the sculpted design of the shapes. In the upper section of the seat the side bolsters envelope the occupant like a collar. The vertical lines of the seats come courtesy of an array of delicate piping. Piping on the side bolsters provides contrast and like the perforation of the seat surfaces is a factor in the sporty-elegant impression. The choice of colours and materials plays with the extroverted contrasts of anthracite and white as well as aluminium, and bolsters both the timeless modernity and avant-garde nature of the design and the claim of the ConceptS-Class Coupé to ultimate exclusivity, high quality and perfection. In this spirit the instrument panel and seats are made from supple calfskin. The roofliner of the vehicle is made from hand-woven silk and consequently underscores the exclusive character of the interior.

The New GLA,Always Restless

A rambler between automotive worlds, it re-interprets
the segment for compact SUVs.

Fuel consumption (combined): 6.6-4.3 l/100 km;
CO2 emissions (combined): 154-114 g/km

Confident appearance.

Perceptible clarity as an expression of modern luxury – that is the design philosophy of Mercedes-Benz. As an SUV the GLA moves between the poles of two core design values: progression and tradition. It is an all-rounder, has SUV genes – and is youthful yet sculpturally pleasant at the same time. The low greenhouse, the higher vehicle body and the large wheel cutouts exude a strong power of attraction. Sharp lines lend definition and precision. The confidently upright front with a central star gives the GLA a competent expression which is intensified by the characteristic look of the headlamps. From a side view, the GLA also embodies power and competence. In contrast to previous SUVs, the GLA is not as bulky and its entry is not as high. As a result it is perfect for the everyday routine of urban people.

Made for individualists.

The strong and competent appearance of the exterior is continued consistently in the interior. The strong horizontal emphasis and the dynamic design are further characteristics. Added to this is a high sense of perceived value, encompassing the design, the options available and possibilities for combining top-class materials. Matt and high-sheen 3D geometries create an attractive play of light. The large selection of materials and colour combinations for seat covers provides great scope for individualisation. Sports seats with integrated head restraints are available to the customer as special equipment upon request. The volume of the luggage compartment can be increased by 60 litres thanks to the optional luggage compartment package. The equipment lines Style, Urban and AMG Line are available for even more individuality. During the first year, the Edition 1 will be available in limited quantities as a special model.

A dynamic ambition
to lead.

The GLA moves with a fuel consumption as low as 4.3 litres/100 km, thus setting new standards in its segment. The modern four-cylinder engines with turbocharging and direct injection provide for dynamic pulling power coupled with the highest efficiency.
All of the engines are equipped with the ECO start/stop function as standard. The engines are combined with either a six-speed manual transmission or the optional 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic transmission, both of which unite comfort and sportiness in a particularly special way.

For any amount of
leisure-time fun.

Mercedes-Benz also supplies the GLA with a new generation of the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system with fully variable torque distribution. This all-wheel drive system is characterised by high tractive power reserves and outstanding agility accompanied by optimum driving safety and energy efficiency. Vehicles with 4MATIC are all equipped with Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) as well as an off-road drive program as standard. By selecting the off-road drive program the transmission shift point and the accelerator characteristics are also adapted to meet the demands of easy cross-country driving, particularly on loose surfaces.

Thinks for itself: further developed assistance systems.

Numerous driving assistance systems support and relieve the driver in the GLA. The SUV has, amongst other things, ATTENTION ASSIST for drowsiness detection and radar-supported COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST with Adaptive Brake Assist as standard. This is then upgraded to COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS when combined with DISTRONIC PLUS, the optional adaptive cruise control. It also has an additional function: the system can brake the vehicle autonomously when travelling up to a speed of 200 km/h if a risk of collision persists and the there is no reaction from the driver. The system will also brake in response to stationary vehicles up to a speed of 30 km/h and can avoid rear-end collisions up to a speed of 20 km/h. Successful assistance systems such as the lane package with Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist or Adaptive Highbeam Assist are also available on request.

"Always on". The newest multimedia generation.

Always informed on the road: the driver is always up-to-date in the new GLA. This is thanks to the newest generation of the multimedia system which is fitted as standard in the GLA. The Digital Drive Style App concept which, in combination with the optional "Drive Kit Plus for iPhone®", provides for the seamless integration of the iPhone® in the vehicle, has been extended. The highlights include the Siri voice control system, and the Glympse real-time location sharing app. Further functions are: Facebook®, Twitter®, Internet radio, AUPEO!™ Personal Radio and the progressive navigation solution from Garmin® with internet-based real-time traffic information.
Whether as a companion on an exploratory trip or a reliable partner in everyday situations, the new GLA has the world at its feet thanks to its progressive interpretation of the SUV segment.

The New S63 AMG

Driving performance
in the luxury segment.

Fuel consumption (combined): 10.3-10.1 l/ 100km;
CO2 emissions (combined): 242-237 g/km*

Up to 100 kg lighter than before.

Systematic implementation of the AMG Lightweight Performance strategy reduces the weight of the S 63 AMG by up to 100 kilograms compared to the predecessor model. This weight saving was achieved largely thanks to the use of AMG forged light-alloy wheels, a lightweight lithium-ion battery and a weight-optimised AMG high-performance composite brake
system. Furthermore, the entire outer skin of the S-Class, including the roof and the front end of the body, is made of aluminium. Installing a spare wheel recess made of carbon fibre, a material used in Formula 1, reduces the weight by a further four kilograms.

Effortlessly superior performance.

The AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine – the most powerful member of the BlueDIRECT engine family, with an output of 430 kW (585 hp) and torque of 900 Nm – delivers effortlessly superior performance. In terms of maximum output and fuel consumption, the AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine remains the most efficient series-produced V8 engine of all. With an output of 430 kW (585 hp) and a torque of 900 Nm, the AMG eight-cylinder unit from the BlueDIRECT engine family (in-house designation M 157) outperforms all comparable engines. The fuel consumption of the new S 63 AMG is 0.4 litres per 100 kilometres lower than that of the predecessor model, even though the engine output has been increased by up to 30 kW (41 hp). The range-topping eight-cylinder model already meets the requirements of the EU6 emissions standard, which is due to come into force in 2015.

AMG sports exhaust system with exhaust flaps.

When the transmission is in "C" (Controlled Efficiency) mode, the flaps remain closed in most situations, in which case the eight-cylinder biturbo engine's sound is more understated – perfect for long trips and a comfortable ride in the rear. In "S"
(Sport) and "M" (Manual) modes, the exhaust flaps open earlier and more spontaneously, especially if the driver prefers a dynamic driving style. The result is an even fuller, emotional, hallmark AMG engine sound.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed
sports transmission.

Maximum individuality and custom-tailored dynamics are the strengths of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. The three transmission modes – "C" (Controlled Efficiency), "S" (Sport) and "M" (Manual) – provide each driver with a personal set-up. In comfort-oriented "C" mode the ECO start/stop function is active and shuts off the eight-cylinder engine when the car is at a standstill. In addition, the driver experiences smooth transmission characteristics with comfort-oriented gearshifts. In "C" mode the car generally starts in second gear. In the "S" and "M" transmission modes the engine and transmission are significantly more agile and the ECO start/stop function is deactivated. A brief and precisely defined retardation of ignition and injection under open throttle results in even faster and acoustically more emotional gearshifts.

Performance-oriented
AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

The optionally available performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive distributes the engine torque so that 33 percent goes to the front axle and 67 percent is sent to the rear axle. The rear-biased power distribution provides for the signature AMG high driving dynamics and superlative driving enjoyment as well as boosting acceleration from a standing start. The all-wheel drive likewise enhances driving safety on wet or wintry road surfaces. The technical basis for the AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system is provided by a transfer case for the additional power take-off to the driven front axle. This transfer case is integrated compactly into the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission and requires no additional installation space.
All variants of the S 63 AMG are fitted with ESP® Curve Dynamic Assist as standard.

AMG Carbon Ceramic.

An AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system is available as an option for the first time. The more than 20 percent lighter design ensures lower unsprung masses as well as enhancing driving dynamics, agility and ride comfort. In addition to this, the system has a longer service life,
is more resistant to corrosion and displays higher thermal stability. The AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system has front brake discs with a diameter of 420 millimetres and is recognisable by the "AMG Carbon Ceramic" logo on the specially painted brake callipers.

Two suspension variants:
AIRMATIC and MAGIC BODY CONTROL.

The S 63 AMG 4MATIC is fitted with AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension. The full air suspension system AIRMATIC is equipped with the Adaptive Damping System ADS PLUS. With the redesigned front axle and the special all-wheel-drive set-up, the S 63 AMG 4MATIC represents a new dimension in its segment when it comes to driving dynamics. The S 63 AMG with rear-wheel drive features AMG sports suspension based on MAGIC BODY CONTROL. The new S-Class is the first car in the world able to recognise road surface undulations in advance. If ROAD SURFACE SCAN detects such undulations with the help of the stereo camera, MAGIC BODY CONTROL adjusts the suspension in advance to suit the situation. Both suspension modes – "Comfort" and "Sport" – are also available here. Both suspension variants available for the S 63 AMG offer hallmark Mercedes comfort on long journeys.

Interior: beguiling appointments, design and quality.

Like the exterior design, the S 63 AMG interior is a beguiling combination of the sportily exclusive atmosphere of a true AMG automobile with classic Mercedes values such as improved interior dimensions, new control logic, new ergonomic touches, ease of use, safety, appeal and aesthetics. The newly developed AMG sports seats offer the driver and front passenger more lateral support. Fine nappa leather in AMG V8 design with lavish perforations and AMG badges in the front and rear seat backrests create an exquisite and luxurious atmosphere on board. Special touches include the embossed emblem on the armrest of the front centre console and the high-quality analogue clock in IWC design.
The AMG sports steering wheel with its distinctively contoured rim, perforated leather in the grip area and aluminium shift paddles allows perfect vehicle control.

Mercedes Concept GLA

New addition with ambitions.

By now the Auto Shanghai motor show is one of the biggest vehicle shows in general and a hub for global trends. It is the stage for Mercedes-Benz to present a new show car on 20 April 2013, the Concept GLA.
The compact SUV impresses with sporty character, a sophisticated and consistently implemented design as well as a multitude of technical highlights.

Much more than just
a strong shoulder.

The athletic profile of the show car is captivating from the moment you first see it: its strong shoulders rise protectively over the reduced glazed surfaces. The pronounced musculature and sinewy structures are pleasing to the eyes of any observer. A narrow greenhouse, the powerful coupé-like rear and a low windscreen round out the sophisticated design of the new addition and benefit its excellent aerodynamics. And because peak athletic performances always require the right breathing
technique, the former diamond grille was adapted to the tough requirements of the Concept GLA: rectangular soft cubes provide the engine with plenty of air. On the whole the materials used are through and through natural, of high quality and have a state-of-the-art aesthetic finish. As a perfectly trained high performer the concept vehicle stays true to its principle of success: use power where it is needed.

Born to be wild.

On the Concept GLA the tyre and rim form an inseparable union. The shape of the rims is inspired by a vision of excavator shovels. This lets them keep moving effortlessly and dynamically, but when need be they grab the ground like claws and despite difficult conditions “shovel on”. This basic idea is transformed into a sophisticated overall concept by the bucket teeth at the front of the vehicle borrowed from the off-road segment. And despite all the functionality the show car leaves nothing to be desired aesthetically: high-sheen bicolour rims and the interplay of matt and polished surfaces not only reflect the light when in motion – but also a consistent, dynamic-sporty design.
Where there is the show car, there is a way. And that is not least due to the tyres specifically designed for the Concept GLA. Their profile impresses with exceptional grip in any terrain, which consequently keeps the vehicle’s irrepressible urge to move forward safely on track at all times – regardless of whether it is on the road or in the wild.

Beware of cameras.

Life may write the best stories – the best road movies are written by the Concept GLA: two high-end cameras are integrated on the roof of the vehicle, which in keeping with the aesthetic aspirations of this show car perfectly blend into the vehicle’s curved roof railing. The roof railing itself was milled from a solid block of aluminium and consequently has a higher visual value appeal than conventional supports. It also protects, consisting with the protector principle of the Concept GLA,
the sensitive technology from wind and weather. The cameras can also be used independently of the vehicle, for example, as helmet cams. The recordings can be projected anywhere with high-tech megapixel resolution thanks to laser beamers integrated into the headlamps. With the Concept GLA you are not only at home in the great outdoors – you’re also in the best movie of your life.

Bright spots in the interior.

The interior also offers an ideal balance between safety and surprise. A Plexiglas cover provides a view of the support structures of the instrument panel. The three-dimensional embossed untreated saddle leather used for the seats impresses with the same in-your-face authenticity. The overall concept combines classic manual craftsmanship and state-of-the-art materials with virtuosity, and exterior styling elements also come to bear in the interior:
the massive grab handles and their interplay of polished and brushed aluminium echo the bicolour design of the rims and transport it skilfully to the interior. In addition, Plexiglas elements with atmospheric backlighting create a very special ambience as well. But in keeping with the principle of efficiency that characterises the concept car they only come on when you need them.

SIT BACK

Interface between human
and vehicle.

When it comes to the necessity of sitting down to drive from A to B, little has changed since the automobile was invented. However, the seat behind the steering wheel has a different status nowadays. In fact, it is no longer just a seat but a Human Machine Interface: a key factor in maximizing comfort for those on board, one that plays an active role in keeping the driver and passengers fresh during the journey. From 4-way lumbar support to head restraints that can be electrically adjusted both horizontally and vertically, those traveling in the new S-Class will want for nothing.
Indeed, once you’ve sampled the delights of the ENERGIZING massage function and climatised seat, you’ll never want to get out.

Stars behind
the scenes.

The position, length, height and angle of the seat, even the depth of the seat cushion, the height of the head restraints and the 4-way lumbar support, can be adjusted electrically as standard. But the really spectacular things takes place within the side bolsters: the optionally available dynamic variant
of the multicontour seat inflates the bolsters individually – and in a matter of seconds – in response to the car’s steering movement, to provide even better lateral support for the driver and front passenger.

High-tech in layers.

Comfort and lightweight design shared center stage in the development process for the new front seats. Their structure weighs under 20 kilograms (44 lb) – around 20 percent less than a conventional design – thanks, among other factors, to a sandwich construction based around steel shells with integrated plastic inlays.

Climatised seats.

At the touch of a button, four electric fans in the seat surface and two in the backrest suck cooler ambient air onto the seat’s perforated leather surface.
After four minutes, the fans automatically invert their direction of rotation to prevent drafts over longer journeys. The fans’ intensity can be adjusted through three stages.

ENERGIZING massage function.

The ENERGIZING massage function of the seats is a world's first, using the hot stone principle to deliver active relaxation. Six programs are available, two of them heat-assisted. Each program separately controls the 14 air chambers in each seat, some of which benefit from quick-responding seat heating. Heat and pressure are used to simulate the effect of traditionally applied hot stones, massaging and mobilizing the shoulder area, back and hips. The engineers also had something of a brainwave when it came to operating the ENERGIZING massage function. The central, 12.3-inch display of the COMAND Online infotainment system shows the individual massage zones in the seats. In addition, a rotary knob graphic appears on the screen displaying the desired program as a number. The menu for the seat functions can be called up directly using a button on the center console.

Mercedes Benz Atraction&Seduction

Vision Accomplished.

In a visual story of seduction between two unlikely aficionados, who better to create the setting for a power play that juxtaposes dark desire with a lightness of space and subtle sense of humour than fashion industry veteran Carine Roitfeld.

World of Fashion and beauty.

Known for her edgy and fearless productions that capture the zeitgeist, Roitfeld used raw meat a fashion material years before Lady Gaga covered herself in it. “It’s a fantasy world and so I am a dreamer, I am a storyteller”, she explains between takes on set. The Parisian kick-started her career by working with the world’s possibly most famous photographer Mario Testino and, as his muse and stylist, shared Tom Ford’s success of bringing sexy back to Gucci in the 90s. Long-time collaborator Gan creates images that are as inspirational as they are beautiful, and with his avant-garde style has been on the forefront of the fashion scene for practically all his life. “Fashion and beauty – they are my world”, he reflects

Technology and Glamour.

Centre of attention however, is another icon: the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class in gleaming black. A grown-up attraction and chock-full with technological innovation that will spearhead automotive development, it has new features that appeal to all the senses. Effortlessly superior, it calls for a no-frills backdrop and a worthy opposite with equal amounts of seductive glamour and sensuality. Enter beautiful Sui He, one of China’s top models. Sui hails from Zhejiang and broke onto the international scene after being the first Asian model ever to open a Ralph Lauren show in the F/W 2011 season. In a black dress designed by Carine Roitfeld, she is drawn to the vehicle and aims to conquer it for herself.

Ultimate Mercedes Cross-Country

Mercedes-Benz presents the
most spectacular cross-country vehicle of all time.

Desert daredevil.

It is in its element off the beaten track. Its business is overcoming the challenges that the natural world and different weather conditions across the globe pose for its driver. The near-production-standard Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6X6 show car is uncompromising. It is the most effortlessly superior and extravagant off-roader ever to be developed and built by engineers. Its performance and equipment are in a league of their own: with 400 kW of power, six driven wheels, off-road reduction gear in the transfer case, portal axles,
five differentials which can be locked while on the move and a tyre pressure control system that operates at world-record speed, the G 63 AMG 6X6 is made to meet all the topographic and meteorological challenges which have stopped other vehicles in their tracks to date. And the exclusively appointed interior guarantees the very best in high-class comfort for the driver and guests, whatever the rigours encountered in tough off-road terrain.

No compromises.

The G 63 AMG 6X6, a small series of which is expected to go into production at the end of the year, combines the best of three worlds: Mercedes-Benz's more than 30 years of off-road experience and the G-Class series production models ensure effortless poise and balance for this vehicle which is without parallel in the off-road scene. The vehicle's absolute robustness, functionality and outstanding off-road capabilities derive from the G-Class models. And the renowned luxury and high-performance division, Mercedes-AMG, is responsible for the engine technology and the luxurious and comfortable interior.

Assuredly on top of things.

The G 63 AMG 6X6 keeps a cool head in the desert and equally stays ship-shape when the floodgates open, making driving through such extreme terrain a sheer delight. However tough the going gets, it will always find a way through. The voluminous tyres on the three axles, the vast ground clearance, the overall height of almost 2.30 metres combined with a width of a good 2.10 metres and the clear, straight-lined design command respect. Despite its imposing appearance and its total weight of 3.85 tonnes, however, the pickup boasts awesome driving dynamics and almost catapult-like acceleration. It knows nature's challenges – and it knows how to see them off. The show car takes even the highest sand dunes in its stride. And its unerring directional stability sees it cope effortlessly with desert tracks, too. It clambers over rocky terrain with astounding agility, while an impressive fording depth of one metre ensures that it is anything but water-shy.

The essence of automotive power.

The vehicle's unique performance is attributable to numerous elements from the proven civilian modular system for the G-Class models from Mercedes-Benz and its AMG luxury and high-performance division in conjunction with a range of elements from the military modular system. Such elements include a newly developed portal axle drive, as a result of which the wheels are located substantially lower than their customary position in line with the centre of the axle. This increases the ground clearance by almost half a metre. As the G 63 AMG 6X6 features independent axle suspension rather than independent wheel suspension, all three rigid axles operate autonomously, ensuring the best possible adhesion to the surface underneath the vehicle. The two rear axles, positioned only 1100 millimetres apart within the overall wheelbase of
4220 millimetres, lend themselves particularly well to inter-articulation, exploiting the traction potential offered by even the most extremely contoured terrain to the full.

Brawn on six wheels.

The vehicle's powerful performance is attributable in large part to the AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine, which deploys numerous technological highlights to generate 760 newton metres of torque, and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The automatic transmission features three modes and automatic double declutching during downshifting, supplying the power via a cardan shaft to the transfer case with reduction gear. In "Controlled Efficiency" mode (C), the most economical possible driving style is the central focus for the engine and drive control strategies. Sport (S) and Manual (M) modes see the engine-transmission set-up in markedly more agile form. A brief and exactly defined retardation of ignition and injection during upshifting at full load provides for shorter shift times here.

Customised air pressure.

The superiority of the G 63 AMG 6X6 is also demonstrated by an innovative tyre pressure control system which enables the driver to vary the tyre pressure for the front axle and the two rear axles separately. Thanks to a high-capacity compressor and four 20-litre pressure vessels installed on the sides in the rear wheel arches, tyre pressure adjustment takes place in world-record time: rather than the period of around 10 minutes which is usually required, the system takes less than
20 seconds to raise the tyre pressure from 0.5 bar for use on sand to the 1.8 bar which is appropriate for road use. Furthermore, the special beadlock wheels enable the tyre pressure to be reduced to such an extent that the pressure exerted on the ground by the G 63 AMG 6X6 is equivalent merely to the footprint of a person of normal weight. No other off-roader has ever come anywhere near such a minimal level.

Inimitable class on the inside, too.

The G 63 AMG 6x6 shows real substance on the inside, too, with a spectacular interior design concept featuring an exclusive dashboard whose new instruments and a large central colour display are enough to steal the show in their own right. The show car also offers a designo leather backdrop with individual contrasting topstitching and an attractive diamond pattern. Other highlights include four electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated individual seats, a special centre console in the rear and Alcantara® linings for the roof and the pillars

New SLS

A modern display of
power with classic roots.

Open-top sensuality.

The task faced by the team managed by Head of Design Prof. Dr. h.c. Gorden Wagener was not an easy one. In 2009, at the premiere of the SLS AMG Coupé, everyone had marvelled at the return of the legendary gullwing model. Two years later, an open-top roadster variant of the vehicle was planned - but without a roof, gullwing doors were simply not possible. After all, the SL is a style icon, already associated with superstars such as Elvis Presley and Clark Gable in the 1950s. For a start, any sort of innovation would be viewed critically by many fans. But the new super sports car interprets the style-influencing shape of the 300 SL Coupé in a very individual way and yet still continues the legend. With its wide radiator grille and large Mercedes star as well as fins on the flanks, the Roadster harks back to previous racing classics. There is also the three-dimensional, sculptured front end with its low-set, arrow-shaped front apron set well into the sides, which lends the SLS its powerful stance on the road.
The six large cooling air intakes and the vertically arranged headlamps set well to the outside - which are also reminiscent of the lights of the 300 SL Roadster - provide for an even more dominant aura.

Fuel consumption (combined): 8.4 l/100 km;
CO2 emissions (combined): 195 g/km*

Super-class exterior.

The perfect proportions of the Roadster are particularly memorable: a long bonnet, the greenhouse positioned well to the rear and a short rear end. Plus the long wheelbase, wide track and short overhangs – in short, the open-top SLS AMG
likewise exudes dynamism and charisma, primarily thanks to the pronounced shoulder sections, which stretch from front to rear like tensed muscles. "As in the gullwing model, the purist, athletic design immediately captures the attention", explains Wagener with more than a hint of pride.

Atmosphere like an aircraft cockpit.

The clear design idiom is seamlessly continued in the interior, where authentic materials contribute high levels of material quality and standard of finish. The driver could be forgiven for imagining himself in an aircraft cockpit: prominent stylistic features include the dashboard in the shape of a wing section and the four air vents with adjustable, cruciform nozzles reminiscent of jet engines.
A particular highlight is the three-layer fabric soft top which opens and closes automatically at the touch of a button in just eleven seconds – even at speeds up to 50 km/h.
"Whether with the roof open or closed, the SLS AMG Roadster is an impressive visual delight!", stresses Gorden Wagener

The NEW SLS

The SLS AMG Roadster boasts a consistent
lightweight construction, puristic design,
outstanding driving dynamics and
open-top driving pleasure.
Fuel consumption (combined): 13.2 l/100 km;

The New SLK-Class

A sustainable character.

Powerful diesel engines have a long tradition at Mercedes-Benz. The new SLK 250 CDI is continuing this tradition by proving to impressive effect that diesel engines and sports cars are not mutually exclusive. The four-cylinder diesel engine in the Roadster produces 150 kW (204 hp) and gives the two-seater exceptional sportiness.
Thanks to its enormous torque of 500 Nm, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, and ensures effortlessly superior driving pleasure not only on winding rural roads but also on long motorway stretches.

Fuel consumption (combined): 5.0 - 4.9 l/100 km;
CO2 emissions (combined): 132 - 128 g/km*
At the same time, with a diesel consumption of 4.9 litres, the SLK 250 CDI is the most economical and also the most environmentally-friendly Roadster in its class.
In addition to top marks when it comes to efficient sustainability, it also combines the typically sporty SLK character with high-quality appointments and excellent levels of comfort.

The most powerful diesel powerplant in its class.

The most powerful diesel powerplant in its class propels the Roadster to maximum levels of sporty performance. Besides impressive acceleration from a standstill, the SLK 250 CDI also boasts the best figures in its class in terms of flexibility. The modern engine in the SLK 250 CDI benefits from some innovative technologies, including two-stage turbocharging, the latest generation common-rail technology and the ECO start/stop system, which is fitted as standard to all SLK models.
The low consumption and impressive smoothness for a diesel unit make the SLK 250 CDI a car with superior long-distance qualities. Anyone wishing to do so could drive it non-stop from the North Sea all the way to the Mediterranean – to top up on sunshine there with the roof down.

An open-air experience whatever the weather.

But even with the top down, the SLK 250 CDI provides a very special kind of driving experience. Three different versions of the vario-roof are available – one of them the panoramic vario-roof with MAGIC SKY CONTROL. This roof can be switched from light to dark at the touch of a button. It can be either almost completely see-though, providing an open-air driving experience even in cold weather; or darkened to cast a welcome shadow, preventing the intense heat of the sun from warming up the interior. Different versions of the suspension are also available: the electronically controlled, fully automatic damping system in particular provides for agile, easy-to-control handling.
It forms part of the optional Dynamic Handling package, which also includes the Direct-Steer system and the Torque Vectoring Brake developed by Mercedes-Benz. The SLK 250 CDI combines light-footed driving dynamics with long-distance comfort, a striking sports car design with absolute suitability for everyday use, and top performance with exemplary ecology. In the end, being economical doesn't have to mean compromising on fun.
